Before you apply for a job abroad

  • Read who may apply. Many employers can only hire people who already have the right to work in their country; others say they sponsor a work visa.
  • Apply on the employer’s own page. The listings here link to it; an employer does not ask for money to consider an application.
  • If a recruiting agent in Pakistan offers you a job abroad, check that the agent holds a licence as an Overseas Employment Promoter on the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment website.
  • Workers going abroad on a work visa register with the Protector of Emigrants before they travel.
  • Visa rules come from the country’s own government, for example the UK Skilled Worker visa or Make it in Germany.

Before you apply to study abroad

  • Check the level and subjects the scholarship covers, and whether it is open to Pakistani nationals.
  • Note what it pays: tuition only, or also a monthly stipend, travel and health cover.
  • Many universities abroad ask for degrees and transcripts attested by the Higher Education Commission.
  • Check the language test the university accepts and whether it can be waived.
  • Prepare a CV in the format the country expects. Our free CV maker has templates for this.
