About this role

This PhD project, supervised by Dr. Yan Fen Lee and Dr. Matthew Gilmour, seeks to design and optimize a commercial product to reduce microbial contamination in seafood. The candidate will formulate a multipurpose antimicrobial disinfectant using natural, food-safe ingredients and incorporate it into ice blocks to control microbial growth during shipping and storage.

Candidates will gain practical experience in microbiology, formulation science, antimicrobial resistance, and genome sequencing. Training opportunities will be available at UEA, the Quadram Institute, and Norwich Research Park, including scientific writing and career development support through various conferences and seminars.
