Overview
The UN IIIM Syria is seeking a Consultant on Syrian Criminal Law and Procedure for a remote position. Applications close on 9 November 2026. This consultancy will begin on 15 November 2026 and will last until the completion of the required services, but no later than 15 January 2027.

Eligibility for Consultant on Syrian Criminal Law and Procedure at UN IIIM Syria

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in law or related field.
- Minimum five years of professional experience in criminal law or related fields.
- Substantial knowledge of Syrian criminal law and procedure.
- Experience researching Syrian legal sources in Arabic.
- Knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence and its relevance to Syrian law.
- Experience preparing complex legal analyses or assessments.
- Computer literacy in standard software applications.
Responsibilities
- Conduct targeted legal research and analysis on Syrian criminal law and procedure.
- Provide expert assessments of selected aspects of Syrian substantive criminal law.
- Assess selected aspects of Syrian criminal procedure and their current application.
- Examine relevant Syrian jurisprudence and judicial practice.
- Identify principal Syrian legal authorities and other sources.
- Consult with IIIM personnel and present preliminary findings.
